Within the first day, it has already identified several birds I didn’t even know visited my yard, like the House Finch and Brown Thrasher. It also shows how many times the birds visit the feeder, which I like.
Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys birdwatching or just wants to discover what visitors stop by their feeders.
The images I have used are from the feeder, and the originals are much clearer. I cropped the photos used for this review to remove some of the background captured.
Changing my review because of Kiwibit Beako follow up on my review of their Smart Bird Feeder. I was contacted by Kiwibit offering a new bird feeder and help setting it up. We are now back in business seeing the birds again. There is an activation card that should come with the bird feeder that will give you access to the videos etc without paying a subscription fee. So far, I’m happy with how everything is working after getting it set back up. Thank you Kiwibit for reaching out.
I’ve had the Beako since July 2025. It’s now April 2026, and as you can see, the squirrels have had their way with it. It’s been chewed so badly that now they can just chuck the lid and climb right in. The camera is well protected and still works great, but I’m mostly watching obese squirrels at this point.
Originally my husband and I were unable to get the Kiwibit Bird Camera to connect to WiFi.
The trouble seemed to revolve around security settings. The camera is designed to connect at WPA2, but not WPA3 (our setting).
We went back and forth with Manuel from customer support, changing security settings multiple times and never getting it to connect.
I was given a refund and told I didn’t have to bother myself with packing up and returning it, so up it went to attic storage.
But Manuel was like a dog with a bone. He would not give up and continued to research the issue on his own.
In the end things were resolved as follows, in Manuel’s own words:
“ We confirmed that the router was set to WPA2, however each time we tried to add your device it would not connect. Thankfully, your husband was available to talk to me and see if we can make changes on your main router provided by Comcast. Once he switched the encryption to WPA3 Personal – Transition and confirmed the change on another device, we went back to connect the feeder directly to your Xfinity router and… success!”
So…don’t hesitate to make the investment in this product. You will never have to worry about some customer service agent in Bangladesh who may or may not care if you have questions or problems.
And yes, the feeder is solidly built and takes great photos/videos! (My photo shows an upgraded, slightly larger solar panel).
========
I was looking forward to spectacular bird cam footage, but alas. It didn’t play well with Comcast. The only way we could get the device to pair was to change our security setting to zero, as in open WiFi with no password protection. We had to reset security levels and restart the routers multiple times in order to figure this out.
The bird cam won’t pair if your security level is higher than WPA2. Ours was at 3 and my husband didn’t like the idea of lowering it it to 2, but ZERO security is a nonstarter.
This was very inconvenient and frustrating given that my cheap $35 Temu bird cam pairs and stays connected while my mid-price model keeps losing connection.
The Kiwibit should have been the Cadillac, but it’s now just collecting dust in my attic.
And why, you might be asking yourself, would I stick it in the attic and not return it?
Because of the spectacular, thorough and conscientious actions of my cutomers service rep, Manuel.
Never before have I gotten voicemails, emails, and live phone support from an Amazon costumer support team.
So…since this is a supposedly rare case of the Kiwibit software being incompatible with a certain model of WiFi router, don’t let this review stop you from giving this bad boy a try. Kiwibit stands by their product!
Secondly I really like that this feeder was very easy to put together. The pictures and videos are outstanding. Very clear and precise, the AI is great so far, it has been spot on with the recognition of the birds. Not like other AI that I have. I especially love the Wiki where you can learn about each bird—it now loads directly in English!
I would definitely recommend this feeder it is a A+++ in my book.
1. The video is 4k and absolutely AMAZING. You can see every feather on the bird!
2. The bird feeder is very easy to set up with two different types of bird seed columns. I love that it attracts all sorts of birds.
3. There are so many options on how to hang the feeder, - pole, tree, wall. Since we have tons of squirrels I picked the pole mount. Putting together the pole took much longer than just popping the feeder on the top! I ordered a 9 foot pole and that is the only thing I would change. I found I needed a ladder to fill the feeder so I removed one section and it is perfect. We have bears so I have to take my feeder down every night....super easy to do with this feeder. You just unscrew from the pole and put it back up the next day.
4. The Kiwibit app is incredible. So many choices and very easy to download and use. I love that it can identify the bird for you and you can save your photo with or without the label.
5. I have a lot of bird feeders in my yard and the birds found this feeder within 30 seconds of putting it up.
6. It's green, solid and looks great in my garden.
7. The solar panel is amazing! My battery has stayed at 100%. There are so many angles that you can put it at that you can easily catch the power.
8. I love this bird feeder. Anyone who loves bird will love this camera. You can even sit at your computer and put in on live and watch the birds while you are inside.
9. The nicest welcome letter (who does that anymore?) Nice touch!
10. Keyshot images. The app will take a closeup still shot for you and you can collect these and put them in an album. See photos below.
After less than 24 hours I have had 10 different birds identified at this new feeder...some I never could identify before.
